SOERABI ENHAii cabang Bogor

The Entrance
This time I have an opportunity to spend Saturday afternoon walking around Bogor with friends of Urban Culinary Bogor. We deliberately walked because weekend Bogor is very crowded with traffic. Even though we got caught in a heavy rain, we are in high spirit and prepared with our rain gears, such is the popular Indonesian proverb "Sedia Payung Sebelum Hujan" which literally means prepare an umbrella before it rains.

The first place that we visited this afternoon is located in Taman Kencana, this area in Bogor is famous for culinary lovers with many restaurants around to feast yourself. We decided to visit "Soerabi Enhaii" Bogor branch which is located in an open food court area in Agri Park.

The ingredient for surabi are: coconut milk, rice flour, coconut and salt. While the traditional surabi uses palm sugar for its topping, what makes this place special for customers is that the customers are free to choose the flavoring topping. With around 60 different flavors it is guaranteed that you will want to order another one with a different topping. It's delicious, original and pleasant to eat while it's hot.

Bogor Traditional Food : TAUGE GORENG Pak Raisan

Pak Raisan
If you come to the rainy city Bogor, there is one dish you have to try,  Tauge Goreng. There are many selling this dish in Bogor, the famous ones are Tauge Goreng Bogor Permai,  Tauge Goreng Pak Iwon,  Tauge Goreng Ngesti, but I find that Tauge Goreng made by Pak Raisan is special.  Beside its delicious taste, his friendliness and genuine smile to customers makes me come back to buy from him. That's probably the magnet that Pak Raisan has to attract customers.

From m it's name Tauge Goreng literally means fried Tauge (beansprout), but it's actually not fried at all and no cooking oil used to cook it. This dish is s named Tauge Goreng because it is cooked boiled on top of a pan with a spatula just like frying.  It consists of Tauge (beansprouts), tofu, ketupat (packed rice) and yellow noodle served with a special sauce made from oncom (fermented soya bean), tauco and soy sauce.  This thick and sour sauce has its own characteristics that you have to try.
Half of my Tauge Goreng LOL
Tauge Goreng is served on a normal plate, but if you order to bring home, it will be packaged inside banana leaves. The way they pack the Tauge Goreng is unique, usually they use a stick to hold the banana leaves together, but for Tauge Goreng it is tied at the top.
Gratis! i free stuff  LOL
My friends, Nata enjoyed Tauge Goreng and Nala had bowl of meatball

Located in Surya Kencana, this area is known as Bogor's China town.  There's many historical colonial era building still standing up to now. The area is crowded because of its proximity with Pasar Bogor (known as the central market in the middle of the city). Pak Raisan's stall is small, so if you want to savor this delicious Tauge Goreng, it's better if you come before it's crowded. Pak Raisan's stall is open from 10 am to 6 pm everyday. One portion of tauge goreng is Rp 8.000, so cheap yet delicious! He provides free tea, so it's suitable for you if you're on a budget.  It's more exciting if you come in the afternoon when it's raining, the sensation is awesome. Well, I cannot express it in words, you have to experience it yourself hehehe.

P. S. It is suitable for vegetarian

Bogor Traditional Food : DOCLANG

Doclang is one of Bogor's traditional cuisine since the Dutch colonial era.
Doclang is not not as popular as other Bogor famous dish such as Tauge Goreng (fried beansprout), Asinan Bogor (Bogor Pickles), but for local Bogorians they know what it is and what it taste like. Doclang consists of lontong made in patat leaf, hard boiled egg, boiled potato,  tofu and crackers. But behind these simple ingredients what makes Doclang delicious is the peanut sauce with its many spices. It is savoury, sweet and a bit spicy.
Doclang..Yummy!
This time I went to Jalan Veteran in Merdeka Barat area near Bogor train station. This location is popular for traditional Bogor food, but this time I am focusing on one dish, which is Doclang. The location of the cart "DOCLANG KUPAT TAHU 405" is in front of Toko Terang. This Doclang cart is very popular, the owner Haji Aos start selling from 9pm to 6am, it depends on the customers though. The hustle and bustle of the street, street performers and activities in the night market adds to the joy of my culinary tour tonight.

I think you guys won't regret eating the delicious Doclang, it is harder to find Doclang now days because of the growth of modernculinary establishment in Bogor. Come and try it, it is delicious, nice service with a smile by Haji Aos will make you come back to this place.
